I only have one key for my car and it has a chip in it ( or something ) how do I get another key for a spare ?

Just an FYI, if you go to the dealership make sure you have your ownership and the VIN is CLEAR for them to read. They will not cut you or order you a key until it is clear you are the owner. All the dealership needs is the VIN. Also, unless you feel like getting ripped off for them to program it, see if you can find the instrustions for yourself. On any of the vehicles I have owned with VAT it's been a different process between Ford/GM/Mercury/Buick etc. Be prepared for a decent bill for the keys too...they aren't $12 from Canadian tire
This key request is for the older style VATs System on a C4. There is no programing to be done. The pellet is just a simple resistor. All that is need is the right resistor value in Ohm. Any GM dealer will measure this resistance, then order right key blank to be cut. These are not much money at all. Not like on the newer vehicles.
Dealer quoted me $50 for new Key for a 2002 Vette.[But he did put an $1,816.00 windshield in for only the $200.00 deductible...).
