Just a quick check in as we've been busy with activity related to retirement, our home sale in Ottawa and subsequent move to Nova Scotia and renovations here in the Annapolis Valley. Changing the tags to NS requires a thorough inspection and it seems that the rad support is rusted beyond being able to be "passed" so that may become a winter project. That means that we're off the road as of 25 Aug when the ON plates expire. However we recently took a spin up to the Look Off and, although hazy, was a great little excursion - which turned into a one Vette car show for a family and a few bikers who stopped by.

Trust you are all logging lots of summer miles and here's to our being able to do more of that next summer.

Doug...
Welcome back... Thanx for the update.
How's retirement? It sounds like you have been busy with everything else!
Sorry to hear about your rad cradle. Get it fixed over the winter.
Your car looks great. Get yourself settled and enjoy retirement.

Graham, the renos are coming along nicely but they don't leave time for much else! Looks like we'll be all set by next spring. We're building a fair sized garage so I'll have a place to work on the Vette duringthe winter. :)

Really nice to hear from you and know that things are going fairly well for you. The car looks great, nice photograph.

We are coming down to NS in September, I will shoot you are pm, maybe we can have a coffee somewhere.

I won't hold it against you that Ottawa was at one time a significant spot for you.:Banghead:

Car looks great, best of luck getting it fixed. Enjoy the ocean the lobster and all things that happen on the coast.

Tim Hortons is just down the road and don't worry about Ottawa, I just went to work where the air force sent me. But after almost 37 years, now I get to choose where I call home. :)

I have wondered how you've move went --- reno's look great as does the vette.....

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Enjoy your retirement. You'll soon wonder (if you don't already) how you ever had time to work.

It's been a while since going thru the Annapolis valley -- you've reminded me how beautiful it really is.

Enjoy --

Colin.

The loft will be storage space....the garage is the man cave! :)

Well folks, its been two months since my last post and during that time the renovations have continued (great) and the tags on the Vette have expired (not so great). The rad support replacement will be a winter project so that I can have the Vette ready for its certification and Nova Scotia tags next spring. Hope you all got to log lots of time in your rides this summer as we're getting close to the time to bed them down for another winter. The exception perhaps being those of you out on the west coast! Here's an visual update on the renovations but I didn't see much point in attaching a picture of the Vette just parked in the garage.

Wow Doug -- you have a beautiful home there in the Valley .. I have just realized that you moved from one valley to another. I've lived in the Ottawa Valley as you may remember and visited your new valley on occasion and both are very unique and great places to visit/live.

I have missed most of the summer both here and in the vettes due to family issues (better now) so it's great to be back again too.

Good luck with the vette repairs. From what I know it's a common issue and not too difficult to repair. You have a great home for it -- a very comfy home to wait for spring once again.
Hoping your winter there is less severe than in the Ottawa Valley -- I believe on the average that N.S. is milder but wetter.

Looking forward to more pics and updates.........continued enjoyment in your retirement and of course best wishes......

: Colin, from your comments I see that you've now discovered why I chose the handle "Valley Vette"; it worked well in Ottawa and works equally well here in Nova Scotia! :) And yes, you are correct about the typical winter weather here. The effect of the ocean gives us a milder winter and often the temperature is such that we can get snow or rain on alternating weekends - it's often hard to keep an outdoor rink going all winter long. However winter can be a snow filled season and unfortunately we often get both the storm systems coming up the East Coast as well as those coming up through the Ottawa Valley area. But it still a great place to retire!

Glad to hear that you are back online as well and that things are better.

Doug
