Anyone have any recommendations for shops in Edmonton to apply paint protection film (ppf) and ceramic coating? I don’t really like ppf So just wondering what areas of the car would you do?

My pal for the last 40 years works for 3M and provides the PPF to the retailers. He lives in Edmonton. I reached out to him to answer your question.

Here's who he recommends

Vfather. I see we both live in St. Albert. We should meet up for a coffee and chat a bit....

Give me a moment and Ill send you a PM ...

PM sent....

I visit the guys at Detailed Solutions. They have done two of our vehicles. Tony and Josh are the owners. You will be talking to one or the other if you stop in.

There are lots of good shops out there now....

I had a great chat with Ray at Liberty AutoWorx 2 days ago - was grabbing some info for my 2021.
Lots of positive reviews - will be taking my business there next summer.

Here's the contact info - friendly guy, not at all a high-pressure sales guy.

They've got a few solutions - "Xpel Ultimate Plus" can go with ceramic. 10 year manufacturing warranty on the Xpel. Around $5000 to do full body to protect the paint and all, assuming they don't have to do any body work to touch up any paint issues when the car was delivered/handled in the dealership.

They also have a newer self-healing film that does not require heat/sunlight to self-heal called "Premium Shield" which has been blowing them away with their testing at the shop for I believe a few hundred more than the Xpel, which doesn't require the Ceramic on top.

The Ceramic on top of the Xpel was "quoted as an estimate" (ie: this is not "gospel" or a signed off on price and is subject to change) at $1200 on top of the Xpel and it's a 2 year warranty (longer if you store it during the winter).

I went with Nova Detailing. Price was excellent. Had them do self healing ceramic. Picking it up tonight so will see the quality of the workmanship. Paint looks crazy shiny though in the photo he sent me.

Did you go full body or partial paint protection film after @violinfather ?
What did you choose to have done?

I did it like this plus A-pillars and roof line. $2700 all in including self healing Helix ceramic.

that's totally reasonable (for my expectations on pricing anyways) - thanks for sharing
hope you're still enjoying your ride. been building out my 2021 with my sales rep today, though they can't "process" it just yet, so a little more time before it's "go"!

Beautiful cars, guys! And I was lucky enough to meet violinfather and have my first (and only) ride in a C8 about week ago. My first impression goes like this; my C7 is an absolute pleasure to own and drive. It has been a dream to own BUT the C8 is a huge step better in all aspects. I still cannot believe that was possible but I was totally shocked by the quality and my "seat of the pants" feel. The DCT shifting is simply outstanding. ;)

Question; did you guys have the factory plastic film on the rockers removed before you had the PPF and ceramic applied? .... I cant remember if there was some on Violinfather's C8? The reason why I ask is on both my C6 and now my C7 the OEM plastic film does yellow plus the dirt sticks to the edge, in the glue line. The OEM film really sucks compared to what is available aftermarket.

:Cheers2:

Mine didn’t have factory PPF in that location. Picked up my car today and the ceramic looks amazing. Quite a few bubbles under the PPF. Landin from Nova Detailing said they will come out from the sun or he will fix when I bring it back in two weeks - three weeks. He seems real trustworthy and has done many high end vehicles so I am sure he will address them.
