With clearly not enough work to keep us occupied I'm happy to announce that we're looking at establishing a CCF virtual currency behind the scenes to reward active and helpful members. This is a rather large undertaking so it will come in stages. First stage is to establish a Credit or Currency system for CCF. Think of it as virtual earnings for doing the things you do on CCF, sort of a reward.

Do I need to participate and/or care?

Nope, you can stop reading right now. There's no penalty for non-participation. It's actually a CCF perk and no one is under any obligation to use the credits or even read past this line........

What is it?

It's a virtual currency that has yet to be named... It is specific to CCF. I am seriously asking for suggestions for currency names, CCFCs is the closest I have to a name that abbreviates well. Please help me.... :(

Why and what's the purpose?

Purpose it to reward active members and encourage inactive or shy members to post more and check often more.

Is it real money? Can I buy a triple salty ground hog Starbucks latte with it? Can I bribe local officials?

Local officials maybe but no, it's a virtual currency and bears no monetary value outside of CCF.

How do I make CCF dough?

Earning events will be setup for things like visiting CCF daily, creating a thread, answering a question, getting lots of likes etc etc. These will be published and refined over time. You will be able to gift/donate them to other members too.

Now that I'm a CCF millionaire, what can I do?

We will be setting up contests, raffles, competitions, giveaways that may be credits driven in the future so idea is you will spend them there or other CCF featured services.

Still don't get it?

It'll hopefully be a fun way to keep you engaged and get fresher members to post more. Unlike trophies you'll be able to spend these eventually. Plus we owe our moderators quite a bit of back pay so you know.... credits.... :)

Can I help?

You can join the Beta program to shake things down. Oh and I seriously am taking suggestions for a name for this currency. Post any you can think of below, Eric Shillings is my backup name.

One thing is certain, the CCF currency will have more value than anything from Venezuela.

Will there be CCF Banking Charges? Do seniors get additional breaks for Corvette Currency Funds (CCF get it?).

Damn, the RRSP is looking better already.

Hmm... Banking charges... Hmm.. If I model this after my td business account you'll all owe me money everytime you get a statement. Liking this already...

I searched around the lovely internet on slang for coins and currency 💴 (as you likely did Nik) and found nothing that seemed interesting or “Corvettey”.
So maybe something that is almost like currency in cars in general as they are often found missing and often changed.

Pretty sure @SN-III could photoshop the hell out of one of these and create a CCF currency. 😂

The name.... wide open on that one. Likely a few clever guys with ideas out there.

Just a thought ...

Names huh ....
on one hand something funny double meaning like “CCFers” (CCFR’s)
in the other hand something that fuels the fire and desire like “Octanes” (CCFO’s)

Oh yes and those who know me know I live with a benefit of fee-free banking both personal and business. So one of my first contributions will be to devise a fee-free benefit. 😁

I'm liking Vette Coin the most so far, it's simple, generic enough and current. Keep them coming, might throw up a poll too. We may also potentially have two currencies or denominations to start with.

so would there be any credit for past contributions such as media etc , or will everyone start out fresh broke ?

We would all start Monopoly style with coin in our purse. I've not decided on the distribution exactly (could be identical or based on seniority). At this stage not looking at crediting past media contributions as I know I won't have a number of key credit events coded in at the start.

I would think all have the same starting point. Staff would have access to the " safe " and since they patrol the site then they can reward the member with appropriate credits.

Fibre-Coin, Plastic Money, Vette Bucks, ..

Maybe as you reach an initial goal, say 25 posts, you can then get your Monopoly start money.

Graham

For sure there will be a bar to reach for your money. Currently our bar starts at 10 posts for all users.

Here are the highlights - note in no way am I committing to deploy them all from the start, some may not make sense at this stage:

1. Paycheck concept
2. Redemption codes - coupons to earn
3. Multi-currency
4. Currency exchanges (future build)
5. Earn credits for these events - Threads, posts, replies, likes, conversations, daily visits, polls and votes, paychecks, interest, trophies, report content, media uploads/views and ratings, charge to view, contest wins
6. Lose credits for these events - spend, warnings and suspensions, view chargable content, contest entries, donations/transfers

Again there are many possibilities but that's the general sort of events I'm looking at. Of course the idea is FUN and not to turn CCF into some weird pay to play site even if it's not real money so these will be closely monitored for abuse. Lots more on this to come but discussion is always welcome so feel free to provide your inputs.
