I saw this video a few days ago and I was shocked at how well speed phenom did keeping up with the GT3 RS. That car is an absolute track monster and at one point was my dream car.. seeing the c8 do so well against it is a real eye opener, especially considering the price difference.
good points.....didnt stop the keyboard warriors from commenting tho.....They are different cars and hard to compare:
1) the Porsche costs almost THREE TIMES THE PRICE of the Z51 C8: US$190,050 starting price, whereas the Z51 C8 starts at US$64,995. So there's no comparison when it comes to price; the C8 wins hands-down;
2) the Porsche weighs 3,153 lbs compared to the C8's weight of 3,647 lbs. So it's no surprise that a car which is about 16% lighter, will achieve higher speeds faster and stop sooner. And the Porsche has 520 HP compared to the C8's 495, so that extra power helps it too. Plus the Porsche is also a bit smaller: about 3" shorter and its width is about 2" less. The laws of physics tell us that smaller and lighter objects are more maneuverable when they are similarly powered;
3) then we have the maintenance costs for the cars. The Porsche are infamous when it comes to even a simple oil change where you need to disassemble engine components to gain access.
Perhaps the better question is whether a Porsche will give you 3 times the fun...
I think the question based on friends who own a gt3 or even a gt4 is why would they buy a corvette when they can afford a gt3 or gt4. My experience is people who have the money for high end Porshes, Lambos, or McLaren are generally not that interested in corvettes. Being a person who will not likely be buying any of those cars anytime soon I'm left with just having to be happy that a car I can afford is pretty close when it comes to performance. Sorry to say and no offense to the ultimate corvette fan I think if I had the cash as mentioned in a later post to say buy a Bugatti I would never look at another corvette again Lol.They are different cars and hard to compare:
