C8 Gen. X Buyers

I just hate reports of something doubling in size without context.
These stats are without context.
If the C7 gen x crowd = 5 which has now doubled to 10 for the C8, no big deal but;
if the C7 gen x crowd = 5,000 which has now doubled to 10,000 for the C8, that is a big deal.

They’re definitely broadening their appeal. I’m 35 (millennial?) & have always been a fan of Vettes but most of my buddies have always brushed them off, gave them the ‘old man’ label... told me Porches etc were way better. But the C8, the reaction from everyone I’ve showed it has been jaw dropping. Good on GM for going so bold on the redesign, I think they’ve ensured the success of the Corvette brand for generations to come

WHAT!!!! Talking C8.

I guess I fall into that gen X category. I never seriously considered a Corvette until the C8. I was planning on buying a Cayman until the C8 came out, and then I waited about a year before becoming a happy owner. I always appreciated the look of the C7, but had a hard time driving it with the long hood, and my wife would never be able to, so that was the clincher. I know everyone here with a front engined Vette is used to driving with the long hood, but coming from sedans and SUVs, it was difficult for me. Anyway, I’m happy to have joined the Corvette family!

Have sort of been in the same boat as you.

I'm in the tail end of the gen-x crowd, and growing up had a bunch of friends tell me that one type of car was better than the others. I've done the JDM thing, older Porsches, newer Porsches, thoroughly enjoyed a BMW 535d, built my LS swap Camaro, miss my C6 Z06, and now proudly own the C8. Suffice it to say that I've been all over the map when it comes to cars, and am not brand loyal but know what I like.

Here's what I learned...They are all different and do somethings better and worse than eachother.

My '73 Camaro is by no means a technological marvel by today's standards. It's all analog, lacks steering feel, the brake don't modulate well, and I stink like gasoline everytime I go for a drive. But I love it! Don't get me wrong, I love my C8 too...but it checks completely different boxes.

I'm not surprised one bit that the new C8 appeals to a younger demographic. The engineers did a good job, and have obviously broken the stigma that Corvettes are for old farts!

I'm Gen X and came from NSX's and 911's to the C8. Always appreciated Corvettes but the mid-engine layout and looks sold me!

Really, the C8 is the modern day mid-engine supercar I wish the current NSX was. Affordable and great for daily driving activities. The current redesigned NSX is way too much money for what it is.
