C8 AM Straight Pipe Exhaust

Sorry officer. What did you say? Sorry. Can you repeat that officer... Is it what?... Oh. Yes officer. This is the stock exhaust. :angelic:
I actually started laughing when I read your post man. I had a new 2007 Shelby GT 500 convertible that I had lowered a fair bit and a Shelby suspension pkg. installed (it really needed it) and at the same larger MAC (I think that was the name) exhaust system installed; anyway, you could hearing me coming and going big time. I worried about getting a ticket with it being so loud? I was in a mall not far from my house having a coffee at Starbucks: 3 police officers where there as well and left when I did - man when I started my car up I had my fingers crossed!!!:heavycar::heavycar:

I had headers and Thrush mufflers on my 340 duster. Got home from the bar really late one night, coasted down my driveway with the ignition switched off one click so's not to wake my parents, gearing down instead of just braking.... Pulled up beside the house and for some unknown beer induced reason, turned the key back on as I rolled to a stop. A tremendous backfire woke the whole house up anyway. Next morning I crawled under for a look and the rolled seam was blown wide open on both mufflers... Actually drove it for a couple weeks like that until the drone drove me crazy...lol... Likely the reason I don't hear as good as I use to today.... Kids!

I do like these aftermarket exhaust but $3500 U.S / $5000 plus cdn for a system is way too much for straight pipes only

So did I! A 71 Plum crazy 340 rust bucket. Sold the wheels 10 years later and threw in the car. lol

Yes! That was the figure I thought of as well - $5K - too much mullah for sure.

That's a lot of money for an aftermarket exhaust for sure. Price will drop after a couple years but lots are the "I want it now" crowd....

Agree, quite pricey. My choice would to titanium straight pipes with sports cats. Ya, I know, even more money.
OEM muffler weighs 76 lbs. cats another 16 lbs. I bet this set up would be 35lbs.

I don't think weight matters unless you are a race car driver?? :heavycar:

I agree with the weight reduction but this is low and in the back not sure it would make as much difference maybe hurt your 0-60 lol

IMO, about 60 lbs from the exhaust and another 30 lbs off by replacing the battery with a lithium one gets you close to a 100 lb weight lose. This should help acceleration and braking. Of course, smaller meals help as well. :Cheers2:
