Could this patent be for the Z06+ versions of the C8? Since it was filed at the end of the C7’s run, and both Tadge and Mark Reuss have said that C7 development is over, highly unlikely that GM is working on a patent for the soon-ending C7. However, could it be, which is consistent with GM’s past practice of using the current generation’s body sketch as a disguise for a patent that they might use on the next Corvette generation, for the C8? We for sure do not know yet, but if someone wishes to get into the extensive technical minutiae of this patent, going deeper beyond the abstract, the link has every page of patent (and a couple more drawings).

Interesting to say the least. This is going to create a lot of speculation but is it one of many patents filed just to make sure no-one else can develop/use something similar? Then again, changing the way air flows on each side and the resulting pressure differential could make the car carry more speed around the corner if applied just right. Would love to see it in action.

Always a good question 12 cents, as to whether a patent is for real, whether it is but later engineering and/or cost to implement make it unwise/unworthy, or whether it is a purely defensive one as you suggested.

There are now 13 GM patents that have been filed, each one of which could apply to some version(s) of the ME. They are listed in one place if anyone is interested.
