I’m looking to purchase a C6 or a C7. I’m not sure which way to go eg: C6/7 Base model with the 3LT interior or step up to a C6/7 with the Z51 option and 3LT interior? This will be a weekend driver only, no track just a cruiser.

Thanks!
Stu.

I would go C7 Z51 3LT. Good luck.

If it's a weekend cruiser for you, the Z51 doesn't really do much for you. I have driven both and have noticed zero difference in the handling or the ride. That being said, If you were going to track the car, the mag ride would likely make some difference in the handling. The 3LT though is a great upgrade in my opinion.

For a weekend cruiser, I suggest a C7 Grand Sport 3LT, convertible
A few things to consider for a 'Vert (I have one as you can see)
If the missus is cruising with you does she like the open air or is more worried about how her hair looks.
If anyone has had skin cancer then it is almost a big no-no. That can be overcome by either keeping the top up unless you are alone or proper sunscreen and head wear (wide brim hat)

Get something with MAG Ride! It makes a big difference in the comfort on less than smooth roads of which is the vast majority for many of us. If you like main highway cruising it wouldn't make too much of a difference but if you like the less travelled twist and turn back roads you do occasionally encounter a few bumps.

I enjoy the bumps. Makes it more interesting.

Some very good points to consider. I remember a few years back when I had a Superformance Cobra the wife would never get in it (her hair) lol. I’m not much of a highway cruiser I would much rather take the back roads so maybe I should consider the MAG Ride. To be honest I haven’t seen many for sale with MAG Ride.
Thanks for chiming in, much appreciated 👍

A lot of people don't know if they have mag ride or not and even fewer salesmen of used cars know either. Pop the hood and look at the shock tower. There will be an electrical wire coming out of the shock.

I have another question. Is there any concern at all going with the C7 with the LT1 engine? Is it as reliable as the LS3? Are there certain things to be aware of with the LT1? Just don’t want to make the wrong choice.

Thanks!

LT1 has proven to be good power plant. If you get a Z51 it will have the dry sump and the procedure for checking the oil level is very different. Be sure to follow the procedure or risk overfilling.

If you get the A8 tranny, look up the vibration issues with the torque tube. There is a service bulletin on it

I appreciate your response. The biggest concern I keep reading about it the carbon build up on the valves.

PS. My 2024 Camaro has the LT1 engine with wet sump and the A10 tranny. I use the paddle shifting a lot to keep revs up and for compression braking. Regularly hitting 5-6000 rpm. I also drive it all year as I did with both C7 Vettes in the past.
Nice fleet 👍

I haven’t driven one without mag ride but am really impressed with the way mine rides with it . Saw a video on YouTube, can’t remember the channel but probably easy to find, and the presenter drove one with and one without over the same stretch of road and you could easily see the difference as he had several cameras mounted. Might be worth a look for you. As a percentage of the total cost of the vehicle it’s not a very significant difference. Even getting dinged for the luxury tax grab. Dicks .
