C7 Z06 Top Speed

I find it confusing relative to what I see as a controversy regarding the “Top Speed” of a C7 Z06. I have read that it is anywhere from 205/206 mph to now being reported as 195 mph. When I ordered/purchased my Z the higher number was easily found with a simple “Google” search. It seems to me that the lower reported speed followed the release of the slower C8 Z06 (Top Speed). Most recently when researching this topic the latter lower number is now always reported. What I find interesting is the fact that the lower horsepowered C6 ZR1 has a Top Speed of 205 mph, albeit it is a couple hundred pounds lighter, but really 10 mph slower? Has the C7 Z06 purposefully had its Top Speed lowered so as not to have a negative view of the newer Z?

The difference might come down to options as well, the more agressive the aero for downforce the lower the top speed.

Top speed is purely for bragging rights , even on track it’s irrelevant unless it’s a massive straight that a handful of tracks possess.

I realize that, thank you however. I only have Stage 1 aero so my Z should have a higher top end speed than those Vettes, as you have stated having more aggressive aero. I just found an article that claims 200 mph for a C7 Z, so it’s getting better ha ha.

The only reason it’s of importance to me is because I’ve been telling people when they’ve enquired that it’s top speed is 206 mph. I certainly don’t want to come across as a lier, and although I distinctly remember seeing that 206 mph being advertised back in 2019-20, if one was to look up my car stats today my credibility would be in question.

I know the current Z will out perform my car on the track, that’s non debatable but I believe I have a higher top end…..simply bragging rights ….ha ha!

Never tried to find brochure for a C7 but the C8 brochure has the GM top speed in the specs ( page 28 for a 2023).

That could be your proof if you have the brochure or can find it.
