From what I know, the engine light would come on,right away, if the gascap was not on properly. The cap plus the other exhaust sensors all triggerthe same engine light response. When I had engine light come on, the firstthing the mechanic did was to check the cap. He then went on to check theother sensors. [ one of which was mal-functioning]Hope this helps, Tony, welland
