Welcome NZVette. Long way from here but your are very welcome to join us.

C5. Now three generations old but in my mind one of the very best Corvettes made. Like Graham said post up some pictures of your ride. Easy to do on this site. We look forward to seeing your Corvette.

Welcome @nzvette

Yes we definitely want some photos and to learn what it’s like to drive a corvette in New New Zealand. Good roads... speed limits... Corvette clubs... parts and service availability etc.

Derek

Hi , roads are pretty good for the most part , our cars are rh drive so the LH drive corvette can be interesting when over taking , best to have a co pilot. Our speed limits are 50kph in most towns and 100kph on the open roads , there are a few express ways in nz which are 110kmh , but our express ways are not like the motorways in the states or Canada , but we are slightly better at rugby than the Canadians . Hehe . Most of our c5 Corvettes are imported from Japan and maybe the c6 and c7,s . Not sure if u guys knew that . They are called SIV vehicles , which means a special interest vehicle. Camaro,s and dodge challengers and mustangs are in the Sam category. If it’s a fresh import into nz , u must own the car for 4yrs it cannot be sold with in this time , and there are a few other rules like it cannot be used for monetary gain . Crazy rules and the couldn’t police it anyway , other than the keeping it for the 4 yrs. any other questions please ask

First off. Your Corvette looks great 👍
Pretty clear you’re taking great care of it.
That very interesting how these cars make their way to New Zealand. I had no idea of the process and all the regulations to own a car like this existed.
Your speed limits are the same as ours in general. The big 110 kph highways generally have a cruising speed of 125. Past that your getting pulled over. We have nothing that I know with a higher speed limit. I bit frustrating in a Corvette for sure.

Ya... our rugby program is a bit hampered here with 7 months of biblically crap cold weather.... but get a team and come on over for a bit of ice hockey. We will likely hold our own in that match. 😂😂

Great meeting you and enjoy the forum. There are many many happy and well knowledgeable C5 active members here.

Your pics are all upside down.

Great looking car and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for the information on how they get to NZ, had never heard that before. Thank you.

My neighbour was just in NZ, said it was a beautiful place they would go back to again. Only down side was he said their Rugby Team was a little dicey.

Odd but in Canada we don't call it Rugby rather we refer to is as "politics". And you are right we don't play it very well!

Thanks again for joining the Canadian Corvette Forum.

Thanks , yes u would definitely whip our butts at ice hockey , I’ve never been to a game , but it looks Awsome . We only have a few teams here I think , maybe down the South Island . Great chatting , message any time .

Picked up my first Corvette a month ago. Car has been very well maintained and came with some maintenance records. So far the biggest issue has been the weather keeping me from enjoying it but the times I’ve actually had it out, I love it!!View attachment 29486View attachment 29487

And of course I posted this in the wrong place, duhhh

I’ve checked my pics and they are up the rite way at my end , maybe it’s because your on the other side of the world and it’s flipped upside down . Yes our country is really beautiful, but there is still poverty here also , tourists wouldn’t see it but it’s here .

Yip will put some up , I’ll go through my phone and find some nz shots , I’ve been lucky enough to have seen some nz back country as my dad is a deer hunter and I’ve also worked in some remote areas on a digger . The good thing about nz is there is nothing here that can kill u . No snakes , beers , big cats , harmful spiders or anything of that nature , u can swim in fresh water anywhere without something grabbing you , like other countries like Australia . Etc . It’s great in that respect.

Are you saying the Great Whites leave the NZ swimmers alone ? 😉😉

This guy doesn’t look like he’s into selective eating.

Yes u are rite , we have the odd shark attack but very little, as our sea waters are cold and the sharks don’t like the cold . But one thing we do have is a lot of earthquakes. U get used to them .
