I discovered something that probably applies to most parts on any vehicle...interchangeability! My blower motor resistor on my 86 coupe with automatic climate control failed the other day, and much to my chagrin discovered that it costs a small fortune to replace. Best price was $196.00 CDN to my front door. If this car had the manual A/C system...it would only be around $30. But I started checking around for equivalent, compatible parts. My reasoning, was that GM probably used this system in more that just Vettes, such as high end Cadillacs, Buicks, Oldsmobiles, etc. To my joy, I discovered that these systems were used, in various configurations, well into the 90's. So, after digging on-line in the local scrapyard (Kenny U-pull) I found a '92 Seville with the exact blower motor resistor, right down to the same GM part number, for only $9. So for a half hour trip and a few bucks, all is up and running well again. Yahoo!
