So I just received my brand new 17” tourque thrusts only to find they don’t fit on the rear....they are 17x8 with a -11 offset in the front and they appear to fit no problem the rear is a 17x9.5 with a 8mm offset and hit the trailing arm before the studs are all the way through.i think they ordered me 86mm backspacing I’d have to look for sure but I have about a 3” lip.that rim needs to move out at least 1” it would appear.just wondering if anyone has 17x9.5’s and if so what offset and backspacing?? I could run a spacer but would rather send these rims back and get proper ones I don’t care if it sticks out past the fender alittle bit don’t want too much and the e brake bracket has already been moved thanks in advance for any help

Might not help but I measure 4.5"BS on the 15x8 rally's (0 offset) I took off my car. I can fit about 5.25" BS now that i have relocated the park brake cable bracket but i haven't bought rims yet to verify that.

Hope this helps a little at least.

It’s looking like my new rims are 5.56 bs which doesn’t work,I’m thinking I need to go the forged rim route with 4” bs to make it work

I have a set of 17" torque thrust wheels on my 70 with no clearance issues. Unfortunately I cannot get at them currently. I plan to be changing back to the stock rallies in a month or two. At that point I can measure the back spacing for you.

Apparently I cannot get the right bs on a 17” wheel they tell me,5.56 is the only backspacing available unless I go back to a 15” rim which I’m not.they will work with a 1.5” spacer/adapter so I’ll go that route

If you have the e brake bracket moved you shouldn't have to go 1.5" spacer (adapter) you should be able to get away with a smaller one which will keep the rims tucked under a bit better.

Good luck!

i purchased 1 1/4” and 1 1/2” spacers,I will be using the 1 1/4”.give the clearance I need at all points (betaken bracket has already been moved previously). The tire barely sticks out past the fender so 1 1/4 works all around, keeping the 1 1/2” spacer as I think I could go to an even wider tire with that

That’s great. I have the same year car and have thought about upgrading my stock rallies. I still love the stock look but like the looks of some larger shine in the wheel wells. I look forward to seeing what your doing and how it changes the look!

Right on! I’ve done a lot to mine in the short year I’ve had it...needed a lot of work,a lot of mechanical things.this year I have all the things to do heads, new l88 hood and the rims and tires will look much different than the day it came home haha.here are some progress pics!

Nice
How do you like the side pipes. That is another thing I thought about but instead went with the fantastic sound of a flow master.
The car looks great!!

love the side pipes...my wife not so much haha she burnt her leg pretty bad the first and only time she got in the car.i ran them open for a couple monthsit was quite loud but I like loud.ended up putting sts baffles from the states.they showed the highest retained hp without restricting sound.they were more expensive of course... right around 1000-1200 from the states. I purchased this car for $4200 I think I’m right around 25k now...I wanted a newer one but I’m falling for this one haha.doing a lot of paint touch ups/body work this spring aswell
