I ordered up a couple items from Corvette Central for the C3,

A Cowl Induction fresh air Plenum and an Indy Pace Car front Spoiler

A bit disappointed on recieving the Spoiler, it had not been packed very well and the pieces rubbed together scuffing the finish.

But a bit of sanding and a quick repaint helped.

It has a lot more aggressive profile than the stocker, plus it extends out to cover the tires, should help a bit with cooling.

I also received a Fresh Air Plenum for a 73 C3,( they didn't offer Cowl Induction for the 75's)

After much trial and error I sanded the plenum contours to fit my hood.

After 432 tweaks to get it to fit, got it as close as I could.

Cut out the blank in the cowl out of the hood. Something weird about taking the knife to one of your toys, makes you feel sick.

But, Thanks to Somebuddy for having some fiberglass resin and hardener,(and Good Burgers... Thanks Buddy, I was hungry)

Will sand it out and paint in the morning, Wine is tasting pretty good about now....

Good work!

One thing though; 1975 was the last year for cowl induction. Are you sure your car has the original hood? It should also have the switch behind the gas pedal to work the flapper solenoid. My '75 still has its original working flapper.

The fit of the Spoiler wasn't too bad, a bit tricky getting the side pieces to lay on the fender.

The plenum comes with a flange of extra fiberglass around the outside that has to be trimmed to fit, and the opening for the Air Cleaner has to be opened up to whatever diameter filter you are using. In my case 14 inch.

I did not get it to lay perfectly against the hood because to trim any further meant shortening the deck height of the plenum. As I was going to fiberglass it in anyways, I wasn't too concerned.

This was an L-48 car originally, previous owner installed an earlier LT-1 out of a 71 or 72, I believe.

There is no switch for the cowl flapper, and the blank was molded in with the cross brace in the hood, I had to cut it out with a die grinder.

My '75 is an L48/TH400 car built in May and it has the flapper and switch. Did your car not have it Graham?

Will you be using the factory cowl induction air cleaner that is a '75 only exclusive due to the need to clear the HEI? I still have my original C.I. Air cleaner tucked away for safe keeping. Those air cleaners are over $400 to buy as a reproduction.

something about seeing the fiberglassing going on with a bottle of wine in the back ground. Makes me a little flinchy. lol.
Looks good tho.

BF..fine work there...!
Greg... My car was originally an L48, but a previous owner had added the L82 hood, valve covers, air cleaner etc. He even changed the console ID tag to L82!. But the ser # has a 'J' in the 5th character vs a 'T' for L82
I never did see any evidence of a floor switch or hood wiring for the flapper. I once tracked the prior owner down and he had a box-load of parts for the car, air-pump, brackets, etc...and a complete flapper unit that he never installed in the hood!

And now back to BF's project

What are you baffled about Case75?

That two different '75s did not come with the cowl induction setup from the factory. Everything I have ever read states that it was standard equipment from 1973 to 1975. It was discontinued in 1976. When was your car built? And I apologize again for the derail.

Not sure what to tell you, possibly it was an option back then,,,

Got the hood sanded out and painted, looking up from underneath the car, my measurements were fairly accurate and the plenum fits nicely around the Air Cleaner.

Took it for a spin, you can definitely hear the Intake noise when you step on it at lower speeds. Doubt if it made any difference in power, but it sounds cool.

That is a grat project BF! Really nice work.

Totally derailing this thread but my 81 Camaro had the flap in the hood with the switch behind the gas pedal. It was supposed to be good for 10hp....which put it up to about 25 total hp for the engine. Anyway, it was fun watching the flap open and close.

Hmmm, while this thread is a bit old, I'm just now reading about the switch and flap. As I've a 75 L-82, I'll have to have a look see... I didn't know about this previously. Amazing while you learn on this Forum if you have the time to cruise the threads!

Thanks all.

PS. any pics of the finished project?
