Late this summer my brother and I took my car on a three day road trip. Went to BC cruised around in the mountains ect. I made the mistake of letting him drive over half of the trip. Well its only escalated from there, as now he wants my car!! So looks like he will be taking it yet this fall/winter. I've been looking for a few months as well to do a slight upgrade. Anyway I think I found my next vette a 2002 vert get this only 21,000km its mint. Millenium yellow with black top. Totally stock. Some great deals out there this time of year. Any way were both pretty excited!!

That'd be a great purchase. There's some great deals on C6's right now too. I've seen as low as $25, 000. The C7 should drop them more unless it's a complete dud. It'll be great for you and your brother to go on a cruise with you now both having your own Vettes.

Totally on board with the color choice for the new car. I know I'm sort of blinded by yellow for vehicles but they are not only so easy to find in the parking lot but so cheerful looking that I can't help but to find myself smiling every time I see one, from C6 to Sunfire, it always works for me.

Great job in helping your brother see the light. Not to mention he knows he's going to be getting one tight car too, no surprises for him!

I hope for the same experience with my son when he gets older, if I am break him of his Supra/GTR/RX7 addiction!

I hope you'll let us know when the deal is done.

Cheers,

Garry

Ya know that's what sold me on buying a 'vette: A long road trip in my brother's new 'vert.

Couldn't get it out of my mind, so a few months later I owned one myself. I haven't been smitten this way by another car in all my years.

Congrats to you and your brother and happy hunting.

BTW, my brother bought his 'vette after returning from a 'cruise' to the west with a friend and his C5 a couple years back.:D

For me my Vette was a post divorce gift to myself. I wanted something that I never would have had if I stayed married. I had a budget and didn't want to compromise. The Vette was a no brainer. Best bang for the buck hands down. Especially since I scored a Z06 for under $22, 000. I've never looked back.

LSXtasy,

How interesting that we share this experience in our lives! While mine was motivated by surviving cancer I always remember how my ex was encouraging me to buy the car right away and how glad I was when she walked out on me that on top of everything else I didn't have a Z06 to include with my list of marital estate assets!!!!

I'm not sure if I would have bought the car in the end had I stayed married as one of my more strong characteristics is how, perhaps, I don't know how to describe it, grounded or responsible I've been all my life. Pay of debts to become more secure in my life as you never know when things might head south for you. Thankfully my therapist Manny is helping me to work through these issues, one mod at a time!!!

I have the honest understanding that part of the reason why I did buy the car is spite. That as much as my ex had emotionally devestated me that I was not going to lie down and just let things steamroller over me. I wanted her to see that I was a bette rperson now without her, a better man, a better father and a better partner for the women I ended up dated afterward. That I was not capable of doing things for myself for no other reason than the pleasure it gave me. A Z06 is not something that generates income but boy oh boy does it generate thrills galore!

Like you I've never had a moments thought that I might have done the wrong thing. I mean I still regret that I didn't get a 2009 for the oil sump and tranny changes but as I didn't see a slew of 2006's on the car lots abandon I couldn't see how they could be so much worse. And saving maybe 15 to 20K was a reality as well. The main factor was that regardless of the year they all have the same mind blowing LS7 engine that is a true work of automotive art! And that was what I wanted. The most horsepower, the fastest, the most curvacious body on 4 wheels I could be strapped into.

Like how much happier I am since I've moved home, I've discovered that I am a happier person post divorce too. The best revenge, after all, is for them to see you happier than when you were with them!!!!!!

Cheers,

Garry

LOL, I have to say that 'vettes are a little easier to get along with at times and mostly don't give you the cold shoulder no matter how you treat it.
They're not a much 'fun' as our lady counterparts but they sure do put a smile on your face without fail.
If anyone tells Margaret what I said I'll deny it 'til the cows come home.:D

Lol! I won't sell you out.:D I'm not against marriage, although I did go through a pretty bitter period. I am so much happier with the gf that I have now and her kids. It's a life that I never knew existed. It's a weird rule to be sometimes, being a parental figure as I don't have kids of my own. Although challenging at times it's amazing too. I drag them to Vette shows and to Mosport and they support it just as I support their interests too. Having my Vette makes me smile overtime I get into it, but my family life completes the whole package.:)

Glad to hear about the family expansion Somebuddy! I don't think I could get my brothers into a Corvette.......well, maybe the middle brother as he should be wrapping up his doctorate in pharmacy next year..... Then, he can buy me a super charger as a thank you.

I hear ya on "the whole package" ...... She's actually the best thing that's ever happened to me -- but again please don't tell her I said so......since the eventual shopping spree would break the bank.:D

Well I delivered my vette to my brother today. Of course he was all teeth. It was an awesome day here with dry streets and hwys. I had put her to bed for the winter but it was sure great to let her rip on last time! The weather is suppose to close in on us again with wet snow by tomorrow afternoon so heres hoping everything goes well and I can have my new to me vette home before it hits. Thanks guys for all the comments.

Make sure your brother joins the forum--I got a great screen-name for him--"Somebuddy-else".

Looking forward to having another solid member on the forum. You make me miss my 'Vette already, and it's only November. Sheesh......

Speaking of pharmacists, our local guy has a Nissan GTR. Not a Corvette guy but at least he isn't your typical stuffy stereotypical pharmacist.

Wow 7L!

I have to admit, as it always does, that yellow C5 vert is a fine, fine looking car. Not to mention probably a bargin price for it compared to a C6 vert. I'm not sure I could every justify a 2nd 6 month car (not that I can even justify one really!) but I think I could go this route if surplus money was ever a problem.

A moment of honesty though, I was getting ready to bid on a yellow C5 coupe in Grande Prairie, if he had gone for a song I could have gone for a his'n'hers sort of theme with two yellow Corvettes. I'm sure my gf could have given up her Sentra for a few months. But she'd have to let me drive it once in a while too.............

Cheers,

Garry
