Best front load washer and dryer

Our daughters have them and claim that these front loaders take for ever to get through their cycles. They are good if you are on metered water as they don't use nearly as much. We have a conventional over and under that has been here forever and won't die. Works great too. My wife Dale has used both types and isn't about to trade.

Samsung is a piece of crap..............bought our new set and the washer totally quit after less than 8 months of use. We had bought the set and all of our other appliances for our new house but didn't have everything delivered til the house was ready..................so after less than 8 months of use its now off warranty! Retailer and Samsung would do nothing even tho they had record of when it was delivered. Repair outfit in twice (300.00 bucks) and still not fixed, replaced the main computor board but didn't fix it and once plugged in can't return!!
To expensive to throw away so its collecting dust in the storage room.........rant over!
Back to your thread don't buy Samsung.

2001 maybe.........got tired of going to the laundry mat. Was a member of Consumer Report at the time too but I can't say for certain if I looked things up in it. Always wanted a front loader - for example I'm not sure if you can even get a top loader in Europe anymore, water use and cleaning quality being so superior. So selected a Kenmore Elite HE3 from Sears - actually made in Germany apparently. I do remember bringing it home, watching the included video and doing my first load, I was so excited I sat in front of the machine to watch the clothes tumble around!!

I have jam-packed this machine with the greasiest, oiliest, filthist, pesticide-laiden coveralls and always had them come out like new. I've even had my son's rock filled pockets go through the stainless steel drum without damage.

In the past 15 years, it threw a code once, I looked it up in the book, the water inlet filter was plugged I think it was, cleaned it and back to normal.

I have loved this machine so much I eventually bought the matching STACKABLE drier and likewise it has performed solidly.

They would be on my highly recommended list as a first rate choice.

Cheers,

Garry

Bill I am not sure if this information will be still relevant or not.

We bought from Sears a machine set called Kenmore Special Edition Heavy Duty. I know that Sears has undergone many changes since we bought these machines about six years ago. These machines have had a major workout, there are five us of at the moment. We had an issue with the door not closing on the washing machine not allowing the machine to work. Both washer and dryer have worked very well.

Good luck with your decision, big investment.

My parents bought front load Maytags yeeeeeeeeeeeears ago. I can't remember the model but they wouldn't die. I lived with a friend who bought very nice Samsung units. The dryer kept throwing an F12 code or something like that. Sorry, I can't remember the model of those either but they looked nice. :D

Thanks alot guys for all the input. I'm not sure what we are going with just yet but we are not spending 3k on a washer and dryer that's for sure. I also mentioned the rock and creek method but the wife just gave me a look which I have actually never seen before.:Wtf:
We went to Sears this morning but after an hour long dog&pony show we left empty handed. :finger:

We've had our Kenmore Elite set for about 2 years. No issues and with two teenage kids they get a huge workout. It's really hit and miss these days as there only a few manufacturers who own the many brands. Reliability has gone out the window even for historically good brands. Watch the Marketplace piece on CBC... an eye opener.
