I did an add-on alarm to my '84 Z28 and had to remove it as I had to keep the battery maintained
if left for a week. The darn system I had drew too much power.
I would hope that systems as better developed with that in mind now.
My guess is that my Camaro was not built to accept one back them. I don't know.

otherwise nothing more dangerous than seeing this as you approach ...

Doesn't a 1985 Corvette have a factory alarm? My 1974 had one. It was a key hole on the drivers side fender. You put your key in it and turned it and that activated the alarm. I could be wrong cause that was a lot of years ago. One time I had an extra alarm system installed on a new Honda Prelude I bought years ago. Think it was a 1998 model and it had a perimeter alarm installed. Was pretty cool because if anyone got within an arms length of it it would send out some warning chirps that it would go off if tampered with.
