Hello all, just a quick newbie question. I am hooking up the battery maintainer in the trunk "hot always" plug, Do I remove the red plastic tip on the plug or insert with the red tip on???? I don't want to force it or not make a good connection. I got the GM part # 85132786, see pic.
Any reply is greatly appreciated

If there is plastic over the end of the plug it will not make contact in the port. Make sure there is no obstruction and a silver piece showing, that should also be a little springy if you push on it slightly. Same as plugging in a cooler or anything else into a power port.

This? No you don't need to remove anything, just insert it and leave it. You will know if it's connected or not by the indicator on the battery charger.
