[QUOTE="MikeysZ06, post: 170021, member: 3452"] Here’s the route I have mapped out for us. It has a little bit of everything. I hope you guys like it and that you might consider it in your August plans. Again, everyone is welcome. Wives most certainly as well as kids. I would love to see some of you Edmonton/Red Deer guys make the trek but won’t be PM’ng anyone. The offer is out there and it’s the best I can come up with with minimum planning. It would be nice. Anyway,,,here’s my idea for August 17. This is beginning at the McDonald’s at Bowfort road NW. I think this is the best starting point. Nice highway cruising from marker A to B. B to C is through the Morley reserve. C to D is mostly twists and turns on the 1A. A very enjoyable piece of road. Between D and E is where this pic was taken with Mt Yamnuska behind. E to F is highway 1 again to highway 40. The Stoney Nakoda casino is at this junction. I figure we’ll stop at the new travel centre for windshield cleaning/restroom break/stretching. F to G is highway 40 to Highwood pass. Once we stop at the travel centre,I’ll offer up a couple of stops on 40 we can consider. I did call Tim Hortons today and am waiting for a reply back from a young lady who is involved with the ranch in some capacity. More on this soon I hope. It’s approx 80 kms from highway 1 to Highwood Pass one way so we’ll probably have ample time for parking at Highwood pass or if it’s too full,we can go a little further south to Mt Lipsett day use area for pictures. On our return trip,we can take a detour into Peter Lougheed provincial park to the upper Kananaskis lake for a bit. Once leaving there,we can stop at Mt Allan/Nakiska,site of the alpine skiing events of the 88 winter games.Lots to be seen if we choose to stop. I’ve been driving this road since the early 80s and would really be happy to share some beautiful places I know of here. The buffet doesn’t start until 5 so I’m guessing that we’d be arriving back there before then so again, line the cars up on the east side of the lot by the helicopter pad and entertain the people that come and go through there. Some of you might play casino games and can venture off into there if you want.
