Hi to all railroad buffs. Having read through his thread I was reminded of an old document that was given me by my deceased brother in-law nearly 20 years ago. My brother in-law was a section foreman and a road-master with CN rail. The railroad was his entire work career from his start in the mid 1950's until he retired in the early 1990's. My wife is also from a railroad family and her father was a section foreman and she grew up living in section houses in remote isolated areas. The attached document dates back to the late 1940's and was transcribed by a railroad buff and entered into a word processor file that became obsolete. I just used MS Word and converted it to a *.pdf file so that I could download it. I think this document was originally put out by GM's Detroit Engine EMD division as an introduction to to the railroaders of the coming diesel electric locomotive technology. My wife still talks of an event when she was a little girl and her father was section foreman of the Jasper section. She remembered her father telling her she was about to witness a historic event and he took her out and they both stood beside the tracks as the first diesel locomotive passed by. I hope some of you find this transcribed old document of interest. Cheers
