How badly am I being bent over?

I got some quotes for the same two pieces (front bumper and front trunk hood) from random local shops, they wanted somewhere between $1000-1500. So this doesnt sound that bad. Plus they can do it during the PDI so I dont have to bring my car in to some random shop for a whole day.

Its 3M and they had a c8 on site with 'their' ppf work. It looked quite good.

Also dealership tried to scam me with extended warranty. Wanted $3600 for 5 years, but its not 5 additional years. Its 5 total years. So essentially I'm paying $3600 for 2 additional years of non power train since it comes with 5 year powertrain from GM 😂

Thoughts?

PPF price looks good. You should do, the front lights and your windshield frame and both front fenders. I got that for 2000$ As for the warranty, no way. I got an extended 4 years full warranty ,like the first 3 years, 7 years total, for 2750, taxes included. Good luck.

Thanks for your data point. $2000 at dealership or from local shops?

I got mine done by ceramicpromarkham.com
"The full front in paint protection film is $2100 in Ceramic Pro Kavaca which is the latest and most expensive film on the market. It’s got a 12 year warranty, has instant heal technology, is super clear and comes ceramic coated. The air vents (Boomerang) would be $220 more."

And for Ceramic
"Gold package includes a thorough wash, 3 step decontamination, prep wipe and the coats on paint, wheels, windows, headlights and tail lights. The price is $1600.
Lifetime warranty. 4 layers of 9H and one layer of Light

I am very close by. The $2100 figure is near what Ive been quoted for full front. And as I said earlier, just hood and bumper is roughly half of that or a little bit more. TBH I am fine with just the front hood and front bumper, I think those will absorb 95%+ of the rocks and damage.

Some people even go more aggressive and just do the front bumper. Ive inspected my unprotected car and its like 90% within the bumper.

Whatever PPF you get, ensure it's wrapped around the edges to eliminate the lines. Ask how it's done and if possible, have them point out what'll happen at the edges. Some people use the "kits" with pieces cut-out to fit and not everything is extended around the edges and wrapped. For example, my first C8 had the front hood wrapped (I did the whole hood) but the side lower edges weren't so you could see where the PPF started/stopped. It's extra work to wrap the edges but worth the extra dough, IMO, both for aesthetics and extra protection. Good luck!

Thanks! I agree its super important to wrap the edges. Otherwise there will be nasty lines where dirt and dust collects, which become hard to wash.

Mine is not wrapped and you can't see the edges unless you know where to look. Mine has no dirty edges after 2.5 years of all season driving.
To wrap the edges one must cut and either overlap corners or "have a line"

I think I have mentioned this before but I have had several cars PPF'd since 2005 and seen quite a few friends PPF results. You CANNOT just go by a "guestimate" to determine price. Some shops just install the PPF "kits". Some shops custom cut the PPF for the vehicle. Think of the cost of a custom cut suit compared to one you buy at The Bay. The BAy suit is much cheaper and kinda fits.
Next is the installer. Some are just detailers who also do PPF and some are PPF manufacturer certified specialists with a lineup of customers and repeat customers.
Next up is paint correction. The most reputable PPF installer here will give a general estimate but wants to see the car. The lights they use highlight any flaws and then a cost of correction can be determined.
My C8 was at the installer when they noticed a small pinhole size chip in the paint and asked GM to correct that first. Then they spent a few hours correcting the paint. Then a few hours dismantling the car. etc etc.
So if you want a good PPF, shop based on price. If you want a great PPF shop based on reputation.

Be interesting to read what Jack has to say about this once he wakes up.

I just want a mediocre job to be honest. Decided not to go with dealership since they have to add the luxury tax to the bill. Going to shop around locally now.

Anyone have recommendations in Toronto area?
Mediocre job? I’ll do it for half of the other guys! 😂

Can’t the dealership invoice the PPF separately from the car?

I think you should go with the mediocre job. You are going to need the extra coin to pay for your $2200 DCT service at Georgetown Chevrolet. Holy f vck, did that guy get raped. I heard he was sucked into a Grandpa phone scam the next day and spent $5000 on PlayStation gift cards...
