SPEED.com has confirmed through multiple sources involved with the negotiations that the American Le Mans Series and the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series will announce an agreement that will see the two series race under a single banner, likely beginning in 2014.

Full details on the merger are still unclear, and offers extended to both series for comment were declined, but it

I actually think that this will be better for the series. I enjoy both but I find following the ALMS harder since the coverage is worse. Witht the exception of being at Mosport, I had to look up races on the internet whereas Speed covers the Rolex series really well. Just my 2 cents. Either way I'm sure that there's politics involved.

For me it would be nice if they didn't use "Street" courses. I don't like the walls.

I have to agree with you there. I guess my only exception would be Cirque de le Sarthe. Other then that I really enjoy the 24hrs of Daytona and all the other tracks that Grand-Am uses. Road America's an awesome track. On the other hand I enjoy watching(if I can find it) the Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta(a personal favourite track of mine). I think it would help with having an earlier start in the season(mid January) vs. ALMS's mid March season opener. I don't think that it'll be perfect by any means, but hopefully the coverage will be better and the political b.s. will be kept to a minimum.

I've never followed either series in the past but would really like to watch more races when the new season starts.
