Almost makes me wish my son was old enough to drive........

Some have also suggest and I also considered it might be more responsible for him to start with a little less HP, like maybe:

2013 smart fortwo Cityflame Edition | used cars & trucks | Grande Prairie | Kijiji

As long as the colour is right!!!!!

However, I do try to plan ahead for things. As with my gf's Valentine's Day present that was acquired a number of weeks ago from a jewelry store that was going out of business, I also picked up a really nice watch for my son for an upcoming B'day, maybe when he turns 13, this first of the teen years, $600 for half price.............................the watch is easier to hide than a car is!!

On the other hand, in a number of years maybe I can pass on my C6 Z06 to him and old wrinkly and grey dad can get a modded C8 Z06!!!!!

Cheers,

Garry

Woooo! The right color and everything! That would make for a fun road trip!

I'm just not sure how impressed he would be with a fortwo hahaha. Unless environmentalism is the in thing at his high school, then that just might make him the popular kid. :D

Good point on the HP. Cheers your way as well. Enjoy this great AB winter....

The winter here has been beyond belief. I haven't even started my snowblower once yet. I don't think that there was more than one dump of snow over 10 cm and we haven't had anything -30 yet, normally we'd have like 12 or 14 days of it. The only downer was going to get a piece welded for my tractor exhaust (not so good with cast welding myself!) and 2 miles after I left home met a semi and probably kicked up a rock and shattered my sunroof.

I'd bought a front windshield for my gf's car last year, installed was $375 or something like that. Discovered that the glass places can't get Nissan glass other than factory. Called the Nissan dealer and got the shock of my life - $680!

Called a wrecker at Lethbridge and got one for $175 plus shipping. Apparently just 4 bolts or screws to swap it out so I hope I can do that.

The day it happened I even covered it with a piece of plastic I had, maybe 1.5 mm think, duct taped it on - it was +8 that day so I figured that it would hold. The next morning going to my parents place, puttering along at 60 km and it flew off. Snow forecast last night so I covered it with a towel - not too interested in getting water in that area!

I hope it will stay warm for when I have to install the new piece, not sure if it will arrived today, most likely tomorrow.

I'd also have to admit to being a closet Smart car fan, ever since I saw them in Europe back in 2009 I think it was. One of my Au-Pairs from Germany actually had a Smart ForFour - I never knew until that point there was a 4 door version but they never imported them into North America for some reason. I miss having a little diesel car since I lost my company TDI Beetle about 5 years ago..............

Cheers,

Garry

Ahhhhhh.... the joy of oddball glass.... especially for imports. I have a Rav4 toyota that is my work vehicle. Driving home this summer I thought someone shot me.... horrendous bang. Pulled over, opened the hood.... to see if a rod had blown out through the side.... nuthing.... walked all around the vehicle.... tires fine.... nothing i could see so jumped back in and drove home. Got in my yard and looked in my rearview only to see my back hatch glass shattered into a million 1/4 inch squares.... couldn't believe I didn't see it before.... or that it was still in place..... that was a 700.00 touch as well...
I have plowed three times... one 10 inch storm 2 weeks ago. Snowblower doesn't cut it for me... I have a 1500 foot driveway and a 2 acre yard to plow. More if I open it up to the machinery shed and the horse barn.... lol... We had one night in December I think was down to -26. That's it.... It's pretty much been melting here in Red Deer every day for about the last 10 or so.... almost no snow left anywhere unless it's been pushed up....

Everyone I have ever talked to that has a smart car loves them. Then of course you have the other half....

I wonder now if Revenue Canada would accept this as a legitimate farming expense - it is a truck after all!!

Smart: truck

Cheers,

Garry

Oooooh I would but as a zero till seeder I don't use harrows any more!

I wonder if I could use the Smart Truck for zipping over fields to collect soil samples though........? Scouting for weeds???? Actually weed scouting was going to be my excuse for buying a drone as a business expense!!!!!!

Changed the sun roof at lunch time. Gave the area a good vacuuming to get as much of the glass as i could. I've read that glass can jam the gear mechanism and that can lead to having to replace the electric motor. I was surprised that there were only a total of 4 small screws holding the sun roof glass in place. A fairly easy swap out actually. Now I have to get it timed as well as to sit flush with the roof, one of the corners is a bit down. But tomorrow's job. Still happy to have the new one in place so I don't have to worry about snow getting in that area.

Cheers,

Garry

lol.... nothing like this place if you don't have at least a little unused farm junk hiding somewhere.... nice day to work on a vehicle too... was +7 here today.... Ontario is wallowing in a -30 deep freeze...

and the drone is a no brainer.... programs now to tell you moisture, nutrition, what herbicides/pesticides you need.... production levels.... and it would just be a bunch of fun to play with too.... Fly it upside down and take head samples too..... hahaha.... ok... maybe not....

-35................for sure getting into the realm of what is cold, especially if there is any sort of wind at all! I hear that Eastern Canada is getting whacked and I only hope that the weather we are having here - not +7 yesterday but +2 - makes it there soon. Not much fun when it extends for days on end too.

Had a really nice time on Valentine's Day, gave my gf her pendant, the usual her sending emails off to her friends to make them jealous. Imagine a guy sending his buds pictures of the socks his gf have him for Valentine's Day in comparison????!!!!!! It doesn't have to be socks ladies! If your fella is dipping into his wallet to spring for bling, then consider a new CAI, carbon fibre trim, pay to have his car detailed, heck a gift card at a tire store would go a long ways to this "gender equality" that I keep hearing so much about...........!

But we did have a nice day, my dad, gf, son and I went off to the Multiplex to the track to exercise. Dad (80 years old!) set a personal best 19 laps in an hour, my gf did 23 and finally my 11 year old son was able to walk faster than me. I knew this day would come eventually, we did 3 or 4 laps side by side and pulled our pace to 6:30 and over an hour I averaged 7:10 which for me is pretty darn fast for me walking.

I was, I suppose, kind of proud of my son actually. I hope that this will give him encouragement to stick with exercising on a regular basis and to not just take advantage of the fact that he is just younger than me and physically unimpaired compared to his old bald papa!

And on that note, for those who have it, a happy "Family Day" to you.

Cheers,

Garry

Gender Equity? :D

I have to agree that it would be nice to get something other than more debt for Valentines Day. :P

Glad to hear the sunroof is fixed!

Those are some good walking times! I can't wait until our house is in some sort of order so I can start getting out again. Since moving out of town, I no longer bike to work so now I need to do something else.

Maybe I should have been hinting for a camshaft or something? But then again my poor gf just got laid off last Monday so expectations need to be in line!

The sunroof needs to be adjusted or timed or whatever the right term is. It is closed down, does not seem to be leaking, but as with our fun Corvette windows it needs to have the button/key sequenced in a certain way to make sure that it will overcenter and close and lock down. I thought that as I don't usually open it during the winter I'd wait until the weather was warmer before tackling this.

So I spent a week of 3/1 interval run/walk for an hour, then a week of 4/1, then 5/1 every second day and then things fell apart again and I haven't done any running for two weeks now. Just about to head out the doors though and try to run to the highway and back. Only 1 1/2 miles but a start plus I'll still go to the Multiplex for my track time today............1st fun run is this weekend, no set distance or anything, it is the "Muffin Run" and I'm sort of thinking about going. I'll see how I feel after this sort run first.

Cheers,

Garry
