Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section. Could you help me ID this air cleaner I got with some other parts. I was told it was Corvette, but I have no idea if that's true or not. Here are some pics:
looks like an older quadrajet cleaner assembly but wouldn't guarantee it came off a Corvette. A lot of 70's Chevs had the dual snorkel air breather... You may get a better answer as there's lots of guys on the forum smarter than me....lol...
I looked at the air cleaner as well and just happened to see a 1979 air cleaner. The shape is really similar but what is missing off the OP's air cleaner is the pollution control system that was attached to the snorkels. I am thinking it has to be from a pre smog motor for certain.
Thanks for the feedback... A couple more details that may help:
1) I'm confident it's from a GM product as the little plastic valve thing visible in pic #3 between the filter and the carb cut out is marked AC
2) it fits best on a Q-Jet carb. I tried mounting it on an Edelbrock AFB and the aircleaner hit the carb body.
Confirms our previous replies zep.The Quadrajet was made by the Rochester Products Division of General Motors. Its first application was the 1965 Chevy 396ci engine. Its last application was on the 1990 Oldsmobile 307 V8 engine. A little google picture surfing of the years prior to polution control breaher connections and you should be able to find it.
