I believe that Telefunken invented the tape recorder.

The tape we know today was developed by BASF thru machines made in Germany by AEG. No doubt TELEFUNKEN and others followed suit rather quickly.

Jeffer..
That room would be so hypnotizing if all them machines were spinning reels.!
Ha ha

Thanx

Capitol picture Murray!...
Ha ha

I think I see a ‘58 Pontiac in that pic.
I wonder what Michael has to say about that?

Graham

......good eye ! , yeah a 58 plain jane 2 door poncho cruising . Here's my little piece of antique machinery. My aunt bought it new in Los Angeles late 50's or 60's sometime. Wollensak 2 speed tape recorder, model T 1500 , tube type. I hooked the accessory cable to the speaker of our old radio and taped alot of Rock 'Roll in the 60's off CKOM radio Saskatoon, Ken Singer DJ. Even plugged the guitar into the amp jack and played. I still use it sometime to relive the past. I one time taped our first 58 chev that I put dual Walker's on and hit the gas to make 'er rap....what a lovely sound from the past.

Nice deck Michael.....
Do you still have the dual Walkers on tape?
I’m impressed that still works.
Great

Graham.

.....Oh 4sure , tape sounds just like when I recorded it back in the 70's. Got another clip of when I had the exhaust off and just a straight pipe , deck on in the shop doorway, took off in the 58 flooring it all the way down the driveway about 200 yards hit the brakes at the grid road you can hear the tires skid on the gravel, made a U Ball and nailed it back up to the shop....oh the sweet sound of a 283 V8 . Attached a pic of the Walker Blue Swinger , my opinion the nicest sounding glass pack ever made. I have 2 NOS left # 24024

It is a half-track 4-speed model... 3 3/4, 7 1/2, 15 & 30 ips.
It has been in a storage locker for a few years. Seems to work fine but needs a bit of contact cleaner in the right places. This machine is awesome. It at one time belonged to a prominent radio station in Vancouver. It also came with a box of reels & tapes.

I was also offered the 800 LP record collection. I have gone thru that already, given some to my son & daughter and friends. The remainder will traded at the used record store or a charity thrift shop.
