Hi All. 4th gear in my 99 A4 C5 corvette is slipping intermittently. Have a chance to purchase one that has been rebuilt with a shift kit in it, and was built to handle up to 700 horses. He used to drag race them, but got out it about 6-7 years ago and the tranny looks like new, and has been sitting in his heated basement. He had it built as a spare when he was racing. He had it rebuilt at Mr. transmission in Cambridge, a father and son apparently all they do is corvette transmissions on the side for King Corvette in Toronto. I can pick this up for 1500, he said it cost him about $3000 for the rebuild which seems about right. With so much labor involved i know i would be taking a chance. Seeing as it has never been installed, do you think the seals and gaskets should be good considering it has not been run? Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thankyou.
