Went out to start my 77, L82 fourspeed C-3 after a long storage season and it started right up - always tend to put them to bed correctly but when depressing the clutch, the car would not go into gear. If I tried to force it - lots of grinding would probably occur. Best thoughts? A clutch plate kit or more?

That happens to our jeep if it sits too long. If there's any oil or grease on the flywheel and the car's been sitting long, the clutch plate tends to stick to the flywheel and won't let go. Try either letting it warm up completely out of gear or try putting it in gear without starting the car and have someone rock it back and forth with you holding in the clutch pedal to see if it will release.

Very good Rob -- I'd forgotten most of that due to no standard trans for so long. But after you talked about it I remembered......

Would said oil or grease eventually ruin the clutch plate and necessitate changing?
