Does anyone know anything about the engine replacement bulletin TSB PIP 5225 ? The origin I think was the NHTSA website. Is this the result of problems with Z06 engines (LT4) or does it include the LT1 also ?

This has been a hot topic on one of the USA forums recently but not much info.

Owais, do you have any "official" info........tks, Doug.

Hi Doug,

Welcome to the forum.

Nothing official has been passed on to us from GM Canada regarding this potential concern. Chances are if they have found an issue it will be all resolved by the time our Z06 gets built in w/o 03/23 so hopefully it will not make its way to Canada.

Lets hope this does not delay the Z06 productions.

Oh goodey. I could be in for catastrophic engine failure:eek::eek::eek:

My car was built Aug. 14 as a 2015 model. I hope this doesn't apply to my car. 1800 km and a new engine:confused:

And somebody on another thread on this forum said Stingrays do not have more recalls and TSBs than other cars when I called out the bad reliability of the Stingray.

Now new engines? 8 speeds disintegrating. Defective tires with cracking. The list goes on. Sheesh! Boy was he wrong. These cars have some serious issues.

Got some more info today. Our GM service manager explained that with the intro of a new engine, usually in the first six months dealers are required to replace a damaged engine so that the original can be returned to GM for reverse engineering of the failure. After aprox six months GM cancels the "replace engine service bulletin" and the dealers then do normal repairs under warranty.

As an example PIP 5154 was a service bulletin for the 2014 LT1 engine requiring GM service to replace rather than repair failures. Six months later Service Bulletin 5154A cancelled 5154 and engine failures would be serviced by the dealer, not replaced.
My understanding is PIP 5225 is for the 2015 corvette Z06 .

I found a similar explanation on Home - Corvetteforum There is a thread under C7 general discussion titled " it appears GM didn't want to exclude 2015 owners from getting bad engines" On pages 6 and 7 there is a response ,with GM PIP documents attached ,from a forum member with GM connections ( his words) that offer the same explanation as provided by our service manager......cancel the panic in my house , i get it now.
