I am new to this forum and I am in the market now for a C6 Z06 Corvette and I have read reviews of the 2 years that I am considering ( 2006, 2007 ).

I live in Toronto and I guess the most pressing question is where to purchase and get the best deal overall because I have scanned the Autotrader, Kijiji and other internet selling sites like "Platinum Auto Sales" and I have visited local dealers like Wilson Nibblet and it seems that prices ( and mileage ) are all over the map ?

I would like the best deal possible ( which I thought would be a private sale ) but what confuses me is that pricing seems to follow no logical path ( two compariable cars same model year with high and low mileage might have the same asking price on the same website - why wouldn't the higher mileage car have a lower sale price and when contacted, the seller will not budge even though you prove that there are comparables with less mileage on this same website that he is advertising his C6 Z06 for sale ) ?

Can anyone shed some light on this and provide me with a rough but reasonable guide to pricing for a C6 Z06 2006 or 2007 corvette in the southern Ontario region ( Toronto ). For example, 2006 Z06 with 10,000km to 20,000Km is worth $38,000, from 20,000km to 30,000km is worth $35,000 etc ( I know that this is just a rough estimate but it will help me negotiate and with winter coming is the fact that you are handing someone cash and taking the car ( storage ) worth a negotiating as well ?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to CCF.

From what I've seen I tend to agree with you about the pricing.
06-07 range from:
32k-40k (high mileage i.e. over 150k)
45-50k (low mileage mint looking cars less than 30k).

I personally don't have qualms about picking up a high mileage LS car, a lot less maintenance than other cars bar the obvious valve job that the engine needs.

I'm excluding heavily modded cars that tend to land all over the place.

Great question Craig and it would be nice if pricing was predictable.

As Nik touched on, if the engine is still stock or has never been touched, it would be good to budget for either new heads or to have the heads rebuilt as there have been issues with the Z06 dropping valves.

Thanks for the answer but unfortunately as this week goes on more questions come up ........

I went to a Corvette specialist this week in Scarborough to see if he had any customers that might be willing to sell their C6 Z06 ( 2006 to 2008 ) corvettes and the owner took my name and number ( and made a few phone calls to existing clients to see if they wanted to sell their Z06's while I was there which was very nice ). I told him that I had been tracking Z06's for sale on Kijiji and Autotrader.ca and I mentioned that I was seeing prices that seemed to be radom and all over the map ( high mileage cars with high pricing vs lower mileage Z06's that we priced a little more agressively ) and he told me that the prices that I was seeing where too high and a really good Z06 ( 2006, 2007 ) should be in the $35,000 to $40,000 range roughly (which is higher then what I see on Kijiji and autotrader ).

Additionally, he said with the winter coming and if someone is looking to sell his Z06 that should translate into a negotiating tool and a slightly better price vs buying a corvette say in the spring.

Secondly, you mentioned to set aside some money for either new heads and or to rebuild the heads but how can you negotiate that into the price when you are looking to buy ? That is more then likely a costly endeavour so and who wants to pay for a car that you know will require a repair down the road ?

Is there anyone who can definitely map out pricing for a 2006 or 2007 Z06 corvette for the southern Ontario market at this point of the year ( as a true guideline ) to assist a first time buyer so that he gets a fair deal ?

In Alberta I think the 2006-2008 Z06's are stupid overpriced for asking prices.

$48,000 to $60,000 for 06, 07's and 08's now

I got $48K for my 06 LMB Z06 5 years ago here ( Paid $41,500 USD 7 years ago in Los Angeles and broke even enjoying the car for 2 years ) . Guys are dreaming with their asking prices now.

Kijiji Canada

You are right on with your $35-38k price range thoughts....... try convince that to a seller. 2006 is 10 years old now.

Stay Away from the specialist in Scarborough and don't bother with trying to buy a car from platinum they would rather a car sit in their warehouse then sell it . Cash is king my friend wait another month or two for end of season and pull the trigger .

Lots of stuff on Kijiji but prices are all over the place. Put an ad on there with what you want and what you are willing to pay. On looking back, I see how fortunate we were. The very first car we looked at was beyond clean and right at the price we were willing to pay. Looked no further and brought the car home a week later.

The price to replace or rebuild the heads would be a cost on top of purchasing the car. I don't think it would really be a bargaining tool because they all have the same issue. It's not year specific as far as I know. Just something to think about when budgeting for the car. However! You have Manny (Dasilva Motorsport) right next door who can perform the work flawlessly and you know your car will be done right and better than new when completed should you get it done.
Owners who are involved with Corvettes are aware of the valve issue, but anyone who bought one to just enjoy and doesn't do a lot of internet surfing probably won't know about it. If you find one where the owner had the valve guides redone, that is something to think about if you are comparing a couple cars as you know you won't have to pay for the repair.
Lastly, you don't HAVE to have the head redone (the actual issue is the valve guides) and chances are better than not that your car doesn't need the work done. But enough have dropped a valve where a possibility still exists.

I purchased my 08 from Brian Cullen elite auto in St Catherine's, I known many don't like to go to dealers but Jeff is a honest guy and they have well cared for cars. Give a look. They come with warranties.
New, used, and pre-owned Cadillac, Chevrolet, cars, trucks, and SUVs for sale at Brian Cullen Motors in St. Catharines
I am not pushing the dealership , just we had an excellent experience that we went back and bought our 16 there too. Hope this can help. Good luck.
A little more for a car in excellent condition with no issues is money in your pocket.
