As mentioned earlier in this thread, are we suppose to change our first DCT canister filter after 1 year regardless of millage?  Not sure if there was ever a definitive answer.

If I understand GM’s procedure correctly, they only specify to have that first canister filter changed at 12,000Kms.  I’ve seen many posts recommending this to be done with your first scheduled engine oil change, which (along with other factors), does have a 1 year limit built into the oil life system.  I understand that GM in the US is covering the cost of the DCT canister service, as well as the first engine oil and filter change if performed within the first year of ownership. This might be the reason why people are saying this though.  Am I’m missing something?

Recently, world class certified service technician and Corvette Service Specialist Paul Koerner posted a video showing the deposits caught by the DCT canister filter.  The vehicle only had 1,500. miles on it!  I know a lot of people will probably perform this service early, but I was wondering what GM recommends?  This, along with engine oil and filter, are services I was hoping to perform myself.

The manual says:

(5) Check the transmission fluid life percentage. If the percentage is less than 10%, replace the fluid and filter. The initial transmission canister filter change must be performed at 12 000 km (7,500 mi), and every 36 000 km (22,500 mi) thereafter. This service can be complex. See your dealer.
