I’m was told a couple weeks back that my car is in event code 3000 which i’m Very excited about but now I’m 2nd guessing going with the 1LT because of the lack of cameras and side mirror warning system. As I’ve never had the opportunity to sit or drive the new C8 do any of you have issues with the blindspots?
Also is there options on after market mirrors or cameras?

There are aftermarket cameras, but there are no real blind spots if you adjust the mirrors properly. I don't use the camera myself. We just use the normal mirror. The only time I use the camera is in the rain as I find it clearer than the mirror through the rear glass.

Thank you for replying so quickly it’s much appreciated.
I can’t wait to get my car and actually drive it.
You are welcome and you will love the car!
Everyone comments that it's better than they imagined, including myself.
Let us know when you get a vin.

I ordered my all black interior and just saw a posting of the red interior. Do you know if it’s possible to buy the interior door & console pieces. I live in British Columbia Canada & I haven’t been able to find many people that know much about the C8. Even some dealerships don’t seem interested in discussing the C8 which I assume is due to lack of allocations they might have. I had 1 salesman tell me he doesn’t touchbthe C8 because he makes more on selling everything else than he would focusing on a few C8’s

You'd have to contact a dealership parts department to see what can be ordered but if may be challenging now with GM having fun ensuring a sufficient supply chain for Bowling Green's production line. You might be better off talking to a custom shop to see what options they might have for reupholstery. I'd suggest waiting for the car and putting ++ miles on it, before you look to make any changes. There's certainly nothing wrong with a black interior and you may fall in love with what you've ordered.

I upgraded to the 2LT because I was concerned about blind spots, etc. After driving the car I don’t really have any concerns with the blind spots. If you adjust your side mirrors properly not much of an issue. I really like the front camera as I don’t have a whole lot of room in my garage and it really helps. As for the rear view camera I’m not liking it right now. I’m guessing it’s likely more a problem with my eye site than the camera but whenever I look into the rear view mirror with the camera it takes a couple of seconds for my eyes to adjust. As I said I think it might be my eyes. I do however like the warning system and I’m not sorry I got the 2LT package, well worth it for me.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. At the end of the day it’s to late for me to change and I’m going to love my car. Hopefully my wife will be fine if and when she drives it.
Thanks again

Don't worry, though. You will love the car. Don't second guess yourself. CamC8 had a 2LT and decided he'd rather a HTC instead of the 2LT.
If you couldn't justify the cost, that's fine. My wife loves and drives ours a ton, but she does love the heated seats and steering wheel. lol

As Murray said, I went from 2LT Coupe Z51 non mag ride car to my 21' 1LT HTC mag ride C8.

No issue with blindspots at all. First thing you do is adjust the mirrors correctly then you're fine. With the 1LT HTC that cool rear mirror camera is standard and if you look up at it and check your driver's side mirror you are free to go.

Heated and so-called cooled seats weren't as important as having the HTC as I wanted to keep my build under $100k with tax.

I'm super delighted with my 1LT.

Rented a camaro convertible with the rear camera mirror and had the same issue, couldn’t focus my eyes on it.

Here is something for you to chew on:

1. Yes, there are blind spots. In practice. Since people make them. Have someone walk behind your vehicle from side to side and you will see what I am talking about. There is your proof.
There is a reason as to why GM offers the rear camera mirror. And the warnings.
They do not do it just because it is trendy to do so.

2. Pretty simple choice. How much is your life worth? How much is less damage or damage avoidance to your new car worth?
I always ask people if they would pay $5K to someone not to break their arm. The answer is always the same.

Only you can answer that, and that is your answer as to whether to get a 1LT or 2LT.

3. Ditto for choosing tires and brakes. I never skimp. Your life is riding on them.

But hey, that is just me. There is a reason as to why GM offers the 1LT. Maybe this will help others with their decisions.

4. You get some of that money back when you sell your car, so you are only fronting the difference in $ (2LT-1LT) for ONLY time you own the car. 2LT has significantly higher resale value and sale speed.

PS> isn't it 3300 when you order can not be changed? I think we changed to an HTC at 3000, but can't remember that far back. Maybe someone else knows.

Carbuff, did you get Z51 with your car?

Proof? We are talking about driving. I have never seen a person run back and forth behind your car at 40 KPH! lol.
I never pull in where I have to back out, even with a Malibu.
EVERY car has that kind of blind spot. I guess there is a slim possibility a Motorcycle could hide momentarily.

What a load of bluster...

Most of us are able to afford a jammed 3LT HTC but after owning a 2LT I felt that all the bells and whistles weren't worth it (remember GM is also in the business to sell you stuff too). But damn... according to Mr. Safety Officer I'm putting my life in danger...

Maybe you should attend the Corvette driving school that's offered...might help with those blind spots.

Not sorry.

Micazo I drive a 1LT Coupe without even the rear view mirror camera and it's fine, take the extra money you saved and go do some race schools and track days to hone your driving skills that will save your life more than a camera

Thank you for your reply I asked my dealer last week if I could make any changes and he said no as I was in code 3000. I will call them tomorrow to see again as I am wondering if I had made the wrong choice even if it costs me another $10 to jump to the 2LT
Thanks again for your input

That is a beautiful car. Thank you for your reply

@Micazo

Some thoughts to help you out.

As you already likely know, 2LT Includes everything in 1LT, plus:

  • Head-Up Display
  • Power Lumbar and Wing Adjustment
  • Wireless Phone Charging†
  • Heated and Vented Seats
  • Heated Steering Wheel
  • Bose Performance Series 14-Speaker Audio System
  • Navigation with Traffic†
  • Performance Data Recorder
  • SiriusXM Satellite Radio®† with 1-year Subscription
  • Universal Home Remote Sun Visor
  • Power-Folding Mirrors
  • Rear Camera Mirror† – Coupe
  • Memory Package
  • Curb View Camera†
  • Side Blind Zone Alert†
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert†
  • Advanced Theft-Deterrent System
  • Parcel Nets
Just the rear cross-traffic alert is worth the 2LT price bump alone, if it saves you once. Ditto for other alerts.
Naysayers.....well, let's just say its all talk till their first accident.
/
Plus, for what you get extra, the 2LT is a bargain, especially if you plant to keep it a long time.
Nice to have some of those things, like the heated steering wheel when it is -5C and clear roads. Love it!

And in the summer, your ass does not sweat. Love that too.

The HUD keeps your eyes on the road, and gives you posted road speed as a bonus. Very cool and very useful.
So much tech for so little money.

I guess the 1LT guys will comment back here that they don't like any of that stuff, or that the price is too high for what you get. If you think the price is too high, then for you it is. You are right, and it works for you. That is why they make 3 trim levels.

Now amortize the net 2LT cost bump over the number of years you plan to keep the car, and then subtract what extra you recoup at sale time. If you keep the car for 5 years, the extra cost may only be $1500/year for all the extra stuff. Including any carrying costs. Worth it to you? Then subtract cost of the 1 accident this can save you. Now you are at a wash. Full cost accounting.

Since you are in BC, let me know when it arrives. Who is your dealer?
