Hi ALL,

I'm looking for a C5 1998 batwing oil pan.
I think there are two versions, one piece or two piece?
Not sure which I have or which is better? One gasket or two? The two piece batwing lower could be replaced
without removing the complete pan? I'm assuming the early version is 1997 1998 so likely we have the one piece?
Our harmonic balancer separated, machined the front of the pan and we replaced the idlers, balancer, belts &
now we have a leak... the smart folks say to replace the batwing pan...
The pans have just gone stupid expensive - 1st price was $5000 @ City Buick, they offered me a deep dish discount $4000.
(They did the repair work on the balancer, $2300 after tax)
Rock auto and others have listed $2000-ish (might be USD?)
There is a marketplace dude that is selling a 90K km C5 LS1 pulled out of a wreck for $800 - our C5 has 90K km

Soooo...

I can buy a complete engine and farm the part I need and then deal with a complete lump in storage or sell it.
OR
Buy the pan I need, If anyone has ideas, I'm listening!

Thanks in advance!

Clive in North York
(Ps. I tried this same part search on Corvette Forum, the USA version, and was immediately overrun by scammers)

I had a 1998 Camaro, but I have no idea what the differences were with the LS1. Sounds like you have some mileage on it so If it was me I'd buy the motor and get it rebuilt with a heads and cam package for it. I did that with my Camaro.
Otherwise sorry I can't help. Good luck with your search.

Just an FYI, Rock Auto will display Canadian Dollars, you just have to toggle to change. I think its in the upper right of the home page.
I have no idea if Tarrifs apply. Good Luck.
Thanks! It was quoting in CAD$ 1900 + tax etc. Not sure if that included the gaskets BUT, that is crazy town prices for an oil pan.
I'm going to keep looking for a cheaper alternative when I get back to Canada in May 2026. Our Corvette is stored over winter,
no problemo! IF anyone has one please let me know, I'm in no rush and I won't be dealing with it until summer 2026.

Cheers Clive
