1980 l48 stalled 1x going 50kms and 2 more times at stop sign today

Hey everyone kinda weird but Friday Saturday and Sunday morning car ran fantastic then Sunday afternoon it lost power and stalled out while driving then 2 more times at intersections on the way home any thoughts???? I did let it cool down for an hour and tried it again was ruff idle about 200-400rpm and it wanted to stall. I could also smell fuel which we normally don’t

Lots of possible causes, not enough info to tell. First off, is it manual or automatic? How many km? How well-maintained is it? Idle in neutral should be more like 500-800 rpm. Most likely a fuel system issue, carburetor, fuel line / filter, plugged tank strainer, old or bad gas, water or sediment in gas tank. Could also be a vacuum or emissions system leak. especially if the hoses are old. Try to see when it happens or when it doesn't happen, when you smell gas, any sign of leaks. Happy hunting !!!
