Is it safe to assume I’ll have an allocation in 6 months if I dropped down to #12 from #18 in just 3 months at my dealer?

My first car I was forced to get z51 and didn’t want it. I ordered a second car. I didn’t want it not because of cost but because I wanted the all season tires, didn’t want the rusty z51 brake callipers, wanted the higher gear ratio, didn’t want the electric locking diff but wanted the mechanical one, and wanted the smoother suspension. It’s a touring car I want not a track car.I do believe, as I had mentioned in other posts, that the tides are turning for economy reasons for some (increased cost of the car and interest rates driving the payments up), but mostly because people were likely on multiple lists and already got their car somewhere else.
So let's see from #32 to #18 in a year, let's assume zero during the winter months. So dealer got about 14 allocations in across maybe 8 months, so 1-2 allocations per month. I personally don't think you will drop like that too often. So let's assume 1 major drop like you just experienced but no repeat. So with 12 spots to go, it could easily be another 6-12 months (sadly) worst case. And if say another 2-3 drop from the 12, then maybe another 5-9 months.
The other thing you can hope for, and prepare yourself for choice wise, is constraints, there are lots of them these days. Z51 is a big one, forged rims another one. When the Z51 constraints pop up, the Z51 guys on the list will pass, and vice versa (the non-Z51 guys will not want it to save some coin). So you will have to be willing to make a quick decision on whether you are willing to give up something or pay for something you did not want, in order to get the car quicker. That can move you VERY fast down the list.
You're talking to a guy, based on drop-offs and people passing due to non-51 and forged wheel constraints, going from #19 to #1 instantly, and I was willing to pay for the Z51 pkg when I did not plan on getting it initially, so a $7500 (??) cost to get the car quicker. In the end though, glad I took it. As someone said on here, easier to have equipment and not use it, then to not have it and want to add it later.
Good luck with moving from 12 to 1 quicker !!
You do have my curiosity as to why 2 cars, assuming the other one is for someone else in the family ? If yes, must look cool to have 2 C8's parked at the house. BTW, don't see too many people doing the body colour accent options, I think it looks great, hence why I took it as well on my RB/TB (expected to arrive sometime in June). Also interesting to see a colour roof (when most were going with black), I went the colour roof as well.I ordered 2 cars last year and had both allocations within 2 days. First time I called on a Wednesday, they got the allocation on Thursday then order was accepted Friday. First car had constraints and about a month later I ordered a second car after dealer said they had another allocation. So I did and order was accepted immediately. You need to phone around. First dealer I ordered through before I knew what was going on had a 5 year wait list. I phoned every dealer in western Canada. View attachment 107767I now have a car in my garage.
I don't know where you get the "rusty Z51 brake calipers from? I never have that issue with my C8 or C7 or C6? 4th gen Mag Ride is excellent and Tour setting is exactly that, comfy and composed on the highway. My first car I was forced to get z51 and didn’t want it.
