    1971 rear diff O/H

    I am rebuilding the rear diff in my 71. Does anyone have the specs for the pinion brg preload, and the backlash? I am hoping to build a strong big block for this car (600HP+) and was wondering if the HD rear end cover would be a good idea or not. Thanks Wadew

    Any tranny guys in the know?

    Your guy is right. Jumping out of gear has nothing to do with shifter, but is held in place by the taper on the gear and the shift collar. Although I have never worked on a Tremec tranny, I have rebuilt a few manual trannys. I would recommend replacing the gear and the shift coller. Wadew
