I am just tall enough (6' 1") that the seat belt pops out of the plastic guide at my left shoulder. I used a product called Shrink Wrap from an electrical supply store. It comes in a grey colour very similar to to plastic guide and in a perfect size so you don't have to apply heat to shrink it...
I have an orange convertible with lite grey seats and the contrast with the other black trim gets a lot of comments. But then your car would look like my car so I say go with blue :-)
