I've been 'researching' the sounds recently and I have to agree, so far Magnaflow mufflers have that sound I like. I really don't like the Flowmaster sound. Thanks for responding.

Here's a pic of the "exhaust system" (finger quotes) that will be replaced as one of the first steps. My ears hurt just looking at the photo. And you can see there's no rear parking brake cable. That'll be a mini-project, assuming the parking brakes need a rebuild.

My battery has a big old mad scientist approved knife switch on it (from one of the previous owners). Also, the PO told me the horn is stuck on so he disconnected it. That is probably just the horn button contact ring insulator rotted out. I haven't pulled it apart to check yet. Just got the car.
