Very meaningful Spence. I never miss a Remembrance day ceremony and every reminder I see of family sacrifices past and present touches me deeply. Great picture.
Thank you Eric.
Robert R was one of two surviving males (along with a cousin in England) in the Noble family which is documented back into the 1500's. He was dispatched from Winnipeg with rank of Sergeant as part of the 221st Overseas Battalion which was absorbed into the 11th Reserve Infantry Battalion. Served with honour and was disabled. Honourably discharged as a member of the 27th Canadian Infantry Battalion on the last day of November, 1918. I have family notes where he was likely in the field of 3 Battles which included Passchendaele and he remained active overseas until the end of the War. In just a little over a year from returning back to Winnipeg was the birth of his only son, Spencer Noble (my Grandfather); who had two sons, Spencer Noble (my Father) and Robert R (my Uncle) ... and then myself - hence why "SN-III" on the CCF. I was 8 years old when our beloved Family WWI Veteran passed and was told in following years that, after returning, he never spoke a word of the Great War. I am blessed with possessing a box of his WWI medals and memories that I open each year at about this time.
